Organic Standards

At AO, our ingredients are always organic or pesticide-free in accordance with the guidance of the Environmental Working Group (EWG). Some of our most important always-organic ingredients include all soybean derived products (ie: tempeh, tofu, tamari, edamame, miso), sesame and all other seeds, our non-refined virgin sesame oil, legumes, rice, grains, leafy greens, peppers, carrots, tomatoes, parsley, green beans, celery, berries, ginger, herbs, and cucumbers. Many of these products are known to contain pesticide residues and are often on the “dirty dozen” list of the EWG. We also source ingredients that may not be certified organic but that we can verify contain no traceable pesticides, are not historically GMO, and are recommended by the EWG (including our pre-checked Broccoli that is greenhouse grown). Our cooked Yuzu-Crusted Salmon is wild-caught Alaska Salmon. Our eggs are always organic, certified humane, and either free range or pasture raised. Our chicken is not currently certified organic due to kosher restrictions, but is antibiotic free, growth hormone-free, vegetarian-fed, and certified humane.

Locally Sourced

When in season, we aim to locally source as many products as possible and support local farmers. We use two main suppliers: Ace Natural and Baldor Specialty Foods that specialize in locally sourced products. We also grow our own microgreens and certain vegetables from our in-house hydroponic garden - it doesn’t get more local than that! Do you have any questions where something is sourced? Don’t hesitate to contact us!
